Brenda Lee Norman

Brenda L. Norman, born March 11, 1960, passed away peacefully at her home on May 15, 2025, embraced by her loved ones.

From the moment she entered the world weighing just two pounds, Brenda Lee showed incredible strength and resilience. She was the cherished daughter of Linda Jones and the late Willard Norman of Newcomerstown.

A proud graduate of Newcomerstown High School, Class of 1979, Brenda married the love of her life, Edward Miller, in 1980. She began her working life babysitting and spent time at a local nursing home before embarking on a long and fulfilling career at Cambridge State Hospital, where she dedicated 30 years of service before retiring.

Family was at the heart of everything Brenda did. She treasured time spent with loved ones and remained close to them throughout her life. She especially loved traveling—Graceland held a special place in her heart—and Elvis Presley was the soundtrack to many of her days. She often sang his songs and proudly declared him “Her Man.” Brenda also enjoyed long drives, sightseeing, reading, and the occasional trip to Wheeling Island with friends and family.

An avid reader from a young age, Brenda's love for books stayed with her throughout her life. She also had a deep compassion for animals and adopted pets through the Tuscarawas County Dog Pound.

Above all, Brenda’s greatest joy was being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were the center of her world, and she devoted herself to creating beautiful memories with them—whether through car rides, board games, reading, coloring, or quiet cuddles. Her love and commitment to them will live on as a lasting part of her legacy.

Brenda shared a special bond with her mother and brother. She saw her mother not only as a parent but as her best friend, spending time with her nearly every day.

Brenda’s warmth, devotion, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Brenda is survived and will be deeply missed by her mother, Linda Palmer of Newcomerstown; her brother, Chris (Karen) Norman of Plainfield; daughter, Melissa (Alvin) and grandchildren Gabreana, Tyzaiah, Juliviah, Don, Amea, Terrell, and Talea of Canton; niece, Lindsay of Gambier; nephew, Travis of Toledo; uncle, Jack (Diane) Jones of Stone Creek; cousin, Beth (Craig) Bucholz of Hilliard; and special friend, Brenda (Richard) Reed of New Concord.

Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Willard Norman; sister, Barbara Harshman; and her aunts, Darla and Patsy.
