Obituary

Bonnie Lee Frohnapfel, age 77, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, August 6, 2026, while in OakPointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Baltic, under the care of Ohio’s Hospice.

Born in Union Hospital at Dover on December 16, 1948, Bonnie was a daughter of the late Robert Nicholas and Mary Virginia (Meechan) Neighley.

She was a graduate of Indian Valley High School and went on to spend her professional career of 20 years with the Indian Valley Schools as a bus driver, a cook, and an aide.

Bonnie was a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church in Tusky. She enjoyed outings with her family and attending sporting events of her great-nieces and nephews. Bonnie had a great competitive streak, often playing games with her family and making sure she won, no matter the cost.

She will be missed by her son, Robert (Rebecca) Frohnapfel of Scio; sisters, Brenda (Greg) Wages of New Philadelphia, Carol (Toby) Negri, a brother-in-law, Terry Sutton; and many nieces, nephews, and their families with whom she shared a special bond.

In addition to her mother and father, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, William Frohnapfel; and sisters, Lori Sutton and JoAnn Duesenberry.

A graveside service will be held in the St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 1 PM with Lisa Clay-Trimmer officiating. A meal and fellowship will follow in the church social hall.

Memorial contributions in Bonnie’s name may be directed to the St. James Lutheran Church, PO Box 336, Tuscarawas, Ohio 44682.
