Bonnie Lee Blackwell, age 87, of Dover, died early, Wednesday, October 29, 2025, while under the care of Crossroads Hospice while in the Inn at Northwood Village at Dover.
Born in the Watson’s Creek area of Rush Township on January 23, 1938, Bonnie was the daughter of the late Robert and Veda Johnson Langdon.
On October 5, 1954, Bonnie married William R. Blackwell and together the couple enjoyed 71 years of marriage, had three children, and countless travel adventures.
Among Bonnie’s travels were special trips to Las Vegas, and Branson, the 1965 World’s Fair in New York, and a special meeting with Willie Nelson. She loved crafting, baking, crocheting, and ceramic work, crossword puzzles, and shopping. She also loved spending time at Atwood and Tappan Lakes where the family spent the summer months camping and enjoying time on the lake.
Her faith, which was central to her life, was nurtured at the Dennison Foursquare Church. Bonnie loved serving the church in various roles.
Professionally, Bonnie devoted more than three decades with the Zimmer Company having retired as the firm’s Executive Secretary to the President in 2003.
In addition to her husband of 71 years, Bonnie is survived by two sons, Bill (Christy) Blackwell, and Shawn (Mhel) Blackwell all of Dover; her grandchildren, Chad Blackwell, Chase (Lisa) Blackwell, Carrie Blackwell, Wyatt Blackwell, and Bailee Blackwell; her great-grandchildren, Lucas, Maddie and Ethan Blackwell; her siblings, Bill (Bev) Langdon, Joy (Dan) Armstrong, Melody Kerns, Debbie (John) VanFossen, and Holly (Dave) Dazey as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Brenda Blackwell, and siblings, Bob Langdon, Donna Carpenter, Betty Langdon, and Linda Thomas.
The family will greet guests on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 4 – 6 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where a service led by Pastor Susan Bosch will begin in the funeral home’s chapel on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park. A meal and fellowship will be shared in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home, following the committal service.
