Bill Jo Ruegsegger, 84, a cherished member of the Dover community, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 17, 2024 at Cleveland Clinic - Union Hospital.
Born in Dover, Ohio, on March 25, 1940, Bill was the son of the late Dale and Elsie (Adkins) Ruegsegger and was a proud member of the first graduating class at Garaway High School in Sugarcreek. Throughout his life, Bill made significant contributions to various workplaces, having retired from Dover Chemical and also working at Broad Run Dairy Cheesehouse and Winery. However, it wasn't just his career achievements that defined him; it was his genuine love for people and his unwavering faith that truly set him apart.
Bill will always be remembered as a devoted family man, who found joy in spending time with his loved ones. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, cheering them on with pride and enthusiasm. His warm and welcoming personality made everyone he met feel like an instant friend. Bill was known for his exceptional ability to engage with others and create meaningful connections wherever he went. He was a longtime member of the Dundee Church of God in Dundee and his spiritual guidance and presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
On March 16, 2011, Bill was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, the late Judith Ann Ruegsegger. Surviving are their three sons, Chris (Meg) Ruegsegger of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Dale (Elanie) Ruegsegger of Dover and Bill (Tammy) Ruegsegger, II of New Philadelphia; his 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Natasha, Brittany, Vincent, Tyler, Bill III, Laura, Tanner, Dale and Victoria, and his 13 great-grandchildren, Mylee, Van, Titan, Bentley, Bill IV, Grant, Elsie, Cambri, Addelyn, Hudson, Ayla, Paisley and Maeve.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Bill is also preceded in death by his daughter, Robyn Greenwood, his son-in-law, Kevin Greenwood, his former daughter-in-law, Yong Cha Chang, five brothers and three sisters.
Friends are invited to call on Friday. June 28, 20424 from 4 to 6 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where a Memorial Service honoring Bill’s life will begin at 6 PM with Pastor Duane Wilbur officiating.
