Beverly Ann Courtney

Beverly Ann Courtney, age 84, of Dover, died peacefully, Saturday, June 13, 2026, surrounded by her family, in her residence following a hard-fought, lengthy illness.

Born in Canton, Ohio on February 10, 1942, Beverly was a daughter of the late Thomas C. and Rita M. Moulin Sturm.

She was a graduate of Canton Central Catholic High School and on July 21, 1962, she married Garylee Courtney and together the couple raised four children.

After working for a period of time for the former Ohio Bell Telephone Company, Beverly devoted many years to caring for children in her home. She not only provided childcare for her own family members but cared for the children of many friends, sharing her loving personality with all who were in her home. Her willingness to give to others was evident in the countless blankets she crocheted and gave away to those in need. Beverly also had fun collecting porcelain dolls and Santa Claus figurines and traveling throughout the United States with her husband on more than 30 bus trips.

In addition to her husband of 63 years, Beverly is survived by two daughters, Laurie (John) Halter of New Philadelphia, and Lisa Courtney of Canton; two sons, Lee Courtney of Salem, and Lynn (Sheila) Courtney of New Philadelphia; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Completing the family is a sister, Susan Durian of Canton; two brothers, Timothy (Gloria) Sturm of Canton, and Ric (Sue) Sturm of Medina as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Larry Durian, and a beloved aunt, Beulah Foltz.

In honoring her wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. The Geib Funeral Center at Dover will be handling cremation care. Beverly will be laid to rest in the Dover Burial Park.
