Betty Critser

Betty J. Critser, age 103, of Dover, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025, in Aultman Hospital at Canton after a sudden accident.

Born August 30, 1922, in Steubenville, Ohio, Betty was a daughter of the late Robert and Nora Davis, Sr. In 1939 she married the love of her life, Herbert Critser. Together they enjoyed nearly 74 years of marriage before his passing in February of 2013.

Betty worked as a nurse’s aide for many years. In her free-time she enjoyed crafts. She crocheted many items for family and friends. Betty also enjoyed cross-stitch. She loved to play card games and made many trips to casinos. She was a gifted gardener; every year she planted tomato plants and shared the harvest with all her neighbors.

Betty was a strong-willed and independent person. She was thankful that she was able to live on her own until she passed.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter Bonny (Ray) Altier of Dover; granddaughter, Debora Jo Tripodi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters; and two brothers.

The family will greet guests on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A service honoring Betty’s life will be led by Bonny beginning at 2:00 PM, in the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Union Cemetery at Steubenville.
