Barbara Sue Fuerst, 80, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully April 27, 2026.

Born in Dover on April 12, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Donna Virginia (Huston) Eichel.

Barbara graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1964 and went on to continue her education at Kent State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. In her early years, she taught at the former Tuscarawas Elementary School in New Philadelphia.

On August 2, 1969, Barbara married her lifelong companion and best friend, Dean Fuerst. In 1978, the couple moved to Pittsburgh, where they made their home for many years.

Barbara was an avid reader and a talented quilter. She also took great joy in watching her grandsons play hockey.

She leaves behind her husband, Dean; her children, Judith E. Fuerst of Gibsonia, PA, and Dean (Danelle) Fuerst of Saxonburg, PA; and her grandsons, Alex (Sara) Fuerst of Butler, PA, and Zachary Fuerst of Saxonburg, PA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her brother, Ronald Fuerst.

A private graveside service will be held in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
