Barbara J. Colburn, 87, of Dover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 in New Dawn Healthcare Center at Dover, following a period of declining health.

Born in New Athens, Ohio, Barbara was the daughter of the late Horace P. and Lena B. (Dunn) Love, Sr. and was a member of the first graduating class at Conotton Valley High School. Following high school, Barbara attended and graduated from the Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing and thus began her career as a Registered Nurse at Union Hospital at Dover where she worked for 33 years and retired as Assistant Director of Nursing.

In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed reading and sewing needlepoint projects. However, her greatest passion was just spending time with and enjoying her grandchildren and her great-grandson.

Barbara will be greatly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Debbie Colburn, Jr. of Dover; her two granddaughters, Julie (Curtis) Stull of New Philadelphia and Katie Colburn of Chicago, Illinois; her great grandson, Graham Stull and her brother, Horace (Betty) Love, Jr. of Tappan.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Colburn-Taylor and two brothers, Robert Love and Jack Love.

In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, a private family service is to be held and burial will be alongside her daughter in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. The Geib Funeral Center and Crematory at Dover has been entrusted with her service arrangements.
