Alma Mae Mason

Alma Mae Mason, 85, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, in Cleveland Clinic-Mercy Hospital at Canton, following a period of declining health.

Born in the family residence in Guernsey County, Alma dedicated her life to her family and her faith, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be cherished for generations.

Alma was a devoted homemaker, a role that she lovingly embraced. Together with her husband, she raised their two daughters, creating a home filled with laughter, joy, and cherished memories. Alma's love extended beyond her immediate family, as she dedicated countless hours to sewing outfits that adorned her two daughters and later, her grandchildren.

Her passion for gardening was another reflection of her nurturing spirit. Alma enjoyed planting vibrant flowers that blossomed under her care. Sunday afternoons also held a special place in her heart; they were sacred moments, spent at Leesville Lake, where the laughter of family adventures on their pontoon boat, countless sunsets and stories with her loved ones, created lifelong memories. She will also be remembered for her culinary talents, especially her renowned Rhubarb Pie, which became a staple at family gatherings and a sweet reminder of her loving touch.

Beyond her cherished roles at home, Alma also pursued her education after high school at the former Columbus Business School in Columbus. She carried the knowledge and skills she gained into her various endeavors, including her service as church secretary at Calvary Baptist Church in New Philadelphia. As a Godly woman, her faith was a cornerstone of her life, nurturing not only her spirit but also the lives of those she touched.

She is survived by her husband, David A. Mason with whom she had celebrated over 63 years of marriage before her passing. Also surviving are her two daughters, Marcia (John) Miller of New Philadelphia and Tammy (David) Dyer of Port Washington; six grandchildren, Makayla (Keith) Leindecker, Makenzie Miller, Morgan Miller, Megan Miller, Karissa Dyer, Austin Dyer and a sister, Betty (Jack) Hale of Dover.

In addition to her parents, Alma was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Millie and Gene Martin and a brother-in-law, Ray Mason.
