Although now a "part-timer", Herb's life has been devoted to funeral service.

A licensed funeral director since 1956. Herb graduated in 1950 from Waynesburg College in Pennsylvania and from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1951. He has been associated with funeral homes in Washington, PA, Rochester, PA, Wellsville, OH and eventually, the Linn-Hert Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia, from which he retired in 1994. Herb returned on a part-time basis later that year.

Herb put his education to work during the Korean Conflict, serving in the US Army with the 630th Grave Registration division at Ft. Lee, VA.

Today he and his wife, Ada, have three grown daughters, Leslee (Ray) Fagan of Portland, OR., Linda (ed) Kelling of Syracuse, MO., Kim (Jim) Van Oser of Parral, and four grandchildren.
