Vicki Pompey

Vicki Lynn Pompey, 67, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, January 18, 2018 in The James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University at Columbus following a courageous five month battle with breast cancer.

A daughter of the late Roy “Nappy” and Elizabeth “Libby” (James) Belknap, Vicki was born October 4, 1950 at Dover, Ohio.

Vicki graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1969. Then on March 24, 1973, she married the love of her life, Joe Pompey and together they raised two daughters, Lisa and Nikki.

She was a longtime employee of Zimmer at Dover where she retired in 2015 after 27 years of service. Vicki was also a member of the First Church of the Nazarene at New Philadelphia. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and she especially cherished her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Joe; her daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Brad Walter of Janesville, Wisconsin and Nikki and Corey Mills of Rootstown, Ohio; her grandchildren, Isabella, Nate, Jillian and Amelia Walter, Hailey, Spencer and Louie Mills and Jamie and Kaidee Walter; a sister, Shelley (Tim) Kugler of Dover; a brother, Jim (Thea) Belknap of New Philadelphia and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Joyce Meese.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Vicki’s life will be held in Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Mark Maddox officiating. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held in the First Church of the Nazarene.
