Valeria M. Korns

Valeria M. Korns, 83, of Dover, passed away in her home on January 23, 2018 following a period of declining health.

Born in Uhrichsville on July 27, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Robert Luther Hale and Wilma (Francis) Sheaffer.

After graduating from Uhrichsville High School, she married her late husband, Simon Eugene Korns on November 12, 1954. He preceded her in passing on July 6, 2013.

Valeria was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dover and was active with the Methodist Women and the Mary-Hannah Circle.

She will be deeply missed by her family including her children, Pamela (Steve) Rutter of New Philadelphia, Joni (Timothy) Burnem of Uhrichsville, and Karla Lowther of Dover; her grandchildren, Darrick (Melanie) Korns, Jamie Harig, Mandi Rutter, Jennifer (Chris) Lynch, and Chelsie Guthrie; and her siblings, Terry Sheaffer, and Paula (Michael) Polilli; her great-grandchildren, Dresden (Lorie) Korns, Dakota Burnem, Kaylynn Johnson, Mariah Rutter, Malachi Motz, Aubrye, Addison, and Kason Moore, Sidney and Shea Lynch; her great-great-granddaughter, Wynter Korns; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Hale; and her dearest friend, Carol Wallace.

In addition to her parents and husband, Valeria was preceded in passing by her daughter, Theresa (Dennis) Harig; her granddaughter, Amanda Burnem; her brother, Donald Hale; and her sister-in-law, Sharon Sheaffer.

Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Monday January 29, 2018 from 11 to 1 PM with a service beginning at 1 PM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a luncheon in the funeral home hospitality center.
