Thomas H. Virden

Thomas Hamilton Virden, 82, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in the Community Hospice Truman House on April 9, 2018.

Born in East Liverpool, O. on June 5, 1935, he was the son of the late Thomas and Louise (Crowan) Virden.

After completing his formal education, Tom joined the United States military, where he served in the Army and ultimately retired from the Navy.

Tom married the love of his life, the former Deborah I. Wheeler, on July 22, 1976, with whom he was married to for more than 40 years. He loved spending time with her and his children and grandchildren. Tom also was an avid bowler and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, loved to be in the sun, and had a deep faith in God.

He will be deeply missed by his wife; his children, Rachael (Wes) Westfall, Tony (Kellie) Breehl, Jeff Virden, Christopher Virden and David Virden, both of Arizona; his grandchildren, Kylie Seldenright-Westfall, Sammi (Chuck) Stout, Alyssa (Rob) Virden, Jeffery Virden, Kiersty (Derek) Correll, and Jessica and Scott Virden; and great-grandchildren, Jameson and Orion Seldenright, Courtland and Hazel Stout, and Keigen and Orion Virden.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in passing by his son, Robert Lee Virden; and his sister, Barb Schultz.

At Tom’s request, he has bequeathed his body to The Ohio State University Medical Center for medical education and research.
