Therese Helbling

M. Therese Helbling, age 85 of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, April 07, 2016, in Hennis Care Center at Dover following a brief illness.

A daughter of the late Earl F. and Wilhelmina (Baum) Ebner, Therese was born at Canton, Ohio on April 16, 1930.

She was a 1948 graduate of Canton Central Catholic High School and a longtime, devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Therese was active in the church’s prayer line, the Faith in Action Program and served as a greeter during mass.

For many years, Therese helped to operate the family business Helbling Supply Company at New Philadelphia, where she served as the Secretary and Treasurer. She loved being with her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Thomas Helbling, whom she married on May 17, 1952; their children Christopher (Christine) Helbling, Joseph (Susan) Helbling all of Dover, Carol Bonamico of Canton and Theresa “Terri” (Michael) Flora of Gahanna; 10 grandchildren, Sara (Adam) Studeny, David Helbling, Alisha (Albert) Burks, Abigail Helbling, Carmen Thomas Bonamico, Elizabeth (fiancé, Brent McDannold) Bonamico, Andrea Bonamico, Jack Flora, Sam Flora, and Hannah Flora; two great-grandchildren, Adalyn Burks and Ian McDannold; a sister-in-law, Peggy Ebner of California and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Therese was preceded in death by her brother, John Ebner.

The family will greet guests on Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 2-5 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 10 AM in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Burial in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia will follow. All are invited to join the family for a time of food and fellowship in  Ricardo’s Party Center at New Philadelphia, following services.
