Shirley Scott

Shirley J. Scott, 88, of New Philadelphia, passed away March 24, 2017 in Hennis Care Center at Dover.

A daughter of the late George W. and Bertha H. (Seibert) Grubb, Shirley was born in New Philadelphia on April 3, 1928.

She was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Shirley married her late husband, Richard R. Scott on October 23, 1948 and celebrated 56 year of marriage prior to his passing in 2005. She retired from the Department of Human Services.

Shirley was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia.

She is survived by her son, Hugh “Butch” (Rebecca) Scott of Ocala, Florida; two daughters, Vickie (Gary) Beach of New Philadelphia and Kay (Tim) Bally of Grove City, Ohio; six grandchildren, Darric Beach, Roy Beach, Marsha Herron, Scott Beach, Melissa Fletcher and Bryan Bally; her daughter-in-law, Robin Scott of Dover; seven great-grandchildren; and her niece, Karen Grubb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Richard R. Scott; her son, Mark Scott; three sisters, Evelyn, Tina, and Helen; and her brother, George.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 5 to 7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia.  A funeral service celebrating Shirley’s life will be on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Rev. Jim Humphrey officiating.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Those wishing to do so may send a personal condolence to the family and sign the online guest registry by visiting www.geibcares.com.
