Shelly A. Knisely

August 3, 1964 — June 20, 2016

Shelly A. Knisely, 51, a loving mother, devoted wife, and kind spirit, passed away peacefully in Community Hospice House on Monday, June 20, 2016 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Dayton on August 3, 1964, she was a daughter of the late Dennis E. and Sarah G. (Carl) Ledbetter.  After completing her formal education, she met and fell in love with the love of her life, William “Bill” Knisely. After proposing to him, Shelly and Bill were married on June 19, 1993.

Shelly lived her life devoted to her husband and children. Whether going for long cruises or hunting for mushrooms in the spring, they treasured the time they spent together.

Shelly’s contagious smile, amazing baking skills, and talented quilting ability will all be remembered fondly by those who adored her. She was a manager at the Zoar Tavern, where she was known as “Aunt Shelly” to all of the girls who worked with her.

She was also a loving and giving person who knew no stranger, and loved devoting her attention to children in her presence. Shelly touched the lives of all who had the honor of knowing her.

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 23 years, Bill of Dover; her sons, Terrance Gibson of Columbus, Javin Knisely of Dover, and Cain Knisely of New Philadelphia; her siblings, Deneise (Kenny) Adams, Caryl Ault, Cindy (Dan) McCune, and Denny Ledbetter; her nieces, and nephew, Chasta (Brandon) Bair, Kayla James, Ethan Ault, Brooklyn and Sylas McCune, and Trina (Jim) Border; her dog, Tinker; and numerous other extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Shelly was preceded in death by her brother, Todd Ledbetter.

Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Saturday from 4 to 7 pm. A service celebrating her life will commence at 7 p.m. with Pastor Brian Flood officiating.

Memorial contributions in Shelly’s memory may be directed to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
