Sarah Jo Hostetler

October 20, 1982 — February 11, 2016

Sarah Jo Hostetler, age 33, of Gnadenhutten, died Thursday, February 11, 2016 following a hard fought battle with drug addiction.

A daughter of Rick Moore of Uhrichsville and Marlee Smith (Mark) Beatty of Gnadenhutten, Sarah was born on October 20, 1982 in Union Hospital at Dover.

A 2001 graduate of Indian Valley High School, Sarah obtained her LPN license from Buckeye Career Center’s Adult Education Program.

Her intelligence was second to none and learning came naturally to Sarah, however, at some point in her life she became an addict. It was her illness and daily battle, a constant struggle to remain clean. Addiction is simply not something an outsider can fully comprehend, and she once again became consumed by the substance which ultimately took her life. Her family recognizes that the help they gave and support they provided were their absolute best but they could not make choices for her.

It is important to know for the past year Sarah challenged herself to become a loving mother and daughter, to get herself back on the path to living a clean lifestyle and become an independent member of society. She loved being able to help her three children and be supportive of them in their activities. She set goals for herself to regain her LPN license and was working toward the positive plan she laid as she enjoyed her new found confidence within herself.

In addition to her parents, Sarah will be missed by her three children, Kris, Abby, and Zac Hostetler; siblings, Rocky (Shannon) Moore, Kelsey Moore, Kayla (Denny) Amore, Marcus Beatty and Janine Beatty; her nieces and nephews, Cloey Moore, Kaisyn and Derek Amore and Aiden Angelo; her grandparents, Shirley Smith and Nancy and Clyde Vickers, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sarah was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jack Smith, Melvin Neibert, and Bill and Truth Moore.

The family will greet guests on Monday, February 15, 2016 from 4-7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.

To assist the family in funeral expenses, contributions may be directed to the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, 116 Second Street NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
