Robert W. Whitmire, II

December 10, 1968 — April 26, 2016

Robert W. Whitmire, II of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly, on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, in Akron General Hospital.

A son of Jacquie Whitmire of New Philadelphia and Robert W. (Susan) Whitmire of Bolivar, Rob was born at Twin City Hospital at Dennison on December 10, 1968.

Rob was a 1988 graduate of the former Indian Valley North High School and attended Kent State University where he studied accounting. Rob had been employed as a concrete aggregate analyst where he managed the laboratory for DiGeronimo Aggregates LLC. He had a lifelong passion for horses and was an avid equestrian and Quarter horse trainer. Rob also enjoyed the outdoors and spent countless hours working on landscape and garden projects. He was quite the handyman often found helping others. He was kind and generous – a man with a great big heart who made friends wherever he traveled. Among his family and friends he was known as the “funny man” with a unique sense of humor; always ready with a quick joke and sharing laughs with those around him.

Above all, Rob’s pride and joy were his children, Sol and Maddi; he loved attending their various activities and considered them to be the light of his life.

Rob will be deeply missed by his parents, his children Solomon and Maddison Whitmire of Uhrichsville; his sisters, Misty Booth of New Philadelphia and Mendy Gotshall of Lousville, Ohio; his nieces and nephews, Tyler (Sarah) Booth, Brittany Booth, Ethan Booth, Alysha Gotshall, Cody Gotshall, and Macy Gotshall; two great-nieces, Gracie and Ava Booth, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Rob was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

The family will greet guests on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 10 AM – 1 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover, where Pastor Steve Stewart will lead a service celebrating Rob’s life at 1 PM. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. A meal and fellowship will be shared in the Hospitality Room of the Dover Geib Center following services.

Memorial contributions in Rob’s name may be directed to the Robert W. Whitmire, II Memorial Fund, C/O Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union, 119 Fillmore Ave, Dover, OH 44622.
