Richard Deibel

September 2, 1952 — April 9, 2017

Richard A. Deibel, 64, of Strasburg, died Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a courageous two year battle with cancer.

A son of the late Roy and Betty (Crossland) Deibel, Rich was born September 2, 1952 at Dover, Ohio.

Rich graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1970 and was a member of the United Church of Christ.  He retired from Young Truck Sales at Canton where he worked as a mechanic.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.  Rich also enjoyed leatherwork.

He is survived by his wife, Julia (Wilson) Deibel whom he married on May 16, 1992; a daughter, Jodie (Josh) Tedrick of Uhrichsville; a granddaughter, Kaylei Jane Tedrick; a brother, Paul (Mary) Deibel of New Philadelphia; a sister, Diane Deibel of Bay Village, Ohio; an uncle, Eugene (Jan) Deibel of Canton; a sister-in-law, Jeanne (Chuck) Gentry of New Philadelphia; a brother-in-law, Ronald Wilson of Dennison; nephews, Aaron (Cory) Deibel of Cleveland, Brian (Tracy) Deibel of Bay Village, Ohio, and Daniel Wilson of New Philadelphia; a niece, Samantha (Jason) Reed of Dover; great nieces, Olivia and Ella Deibel; great nephews, Gavin and Dylan Reed and Mackenzie Deibel as well as many cousins.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Daniel and Janet Wilson and a brother-in-law, Daniel Wilson Jr.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.  A memorial service celebrating Rich’s life will follow at 6 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Jeffrey Gerber officiating.   Following the service, a reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
