Reverend Monsignor George Joseph Schlegel died on April 12, 2018 at the Ohio State University Ross Heart Hospital. The son of George and Elizabeth (McDonald) Schlegel, he was born on February 26, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio.
Msgr. George was pastor of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia from 1993-2010.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Jeff Coning on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at 5:30 PM at Sacred Heart Church, 139 3rd St. NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio.
