Patricia D. “Pat” Rufener, 88, of Dover, passed away on February 23, 2018 in Park Village Healthcare Center at Dover following a period of declining health.

Born in Dover on February 5, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Maxwell Edward and Mabel Lillian (Myers) Wassem. After graduating from Dover High School, Pat married her husband of nearly 70 years, Loren O. Rufener.

Together, they worked alongside one another at Rufener Auto Sales where Pat was the bookkeeper. She spent the majority of her life raising her four children, Mike, Sue, Kathy, and Mark. She was the choir director in earlier years at Ruslin Hills Church and more recently was a member at the First Christian Church in Dover.

Pat was a talented embroiderer, especially on quilts. She also enjoyed baking, traveling, and completing crossword puzzles. Her love for music was especially nurtured when she attended musicals in Toronto and other theaters in Ohio.

Pat was affectionately known as Maaga to many individuals who knew her.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Loren of Dover; her children, Michael (Barbara), Susan (James) Blickensderfer, Kathleen (Colin) Eichel, and Mark (Mary) all of Dover; her grandchildren, Amy (Matt) McVicker, Jamie (Delia) Blickensderfer, Todd Eichel, Kelsie Eichel, PhD, Lauren (Andrew) MacGregor, Kara Rufener, Dr. Thad Kandel, and Stefanie Kandel; and her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Andrew, and Ryan McVicker, and Brynn, Isaac, and Serenity Blickensderfer.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in passing by her brother, Samuel Wassem.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 26, 2018 in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover from 5 to 8 p.m. Pat’s grandson, Jamie Blickensderfer, will lead a service celebrating her life on Tuesday in the funeral home beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park.
