Orlo Beckley

Orlo J. Beckley, 75, of New Philadelphia, passed away in Union Hospital at Dover on May 8, 2017 following a short period of declining health.

Born in Dennison on June 12, 1941, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Vivian J. (Gatchell) Beckley.

After graduating from high school, he honorably served his country in the United States Army. Then on March 20, 1966, he married his loving wife of 51 years, the former Sandra K. Wood.

Orlo worked as a welder for Gradall for 35 years prior to his retirement. One of his enjoyments included upholstering furniture. He was also an avid Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Most importantly, he enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Sandy; his children, Lisa (Charlie) Finton, Lori (Steve) Kelley, and Jeff Beckley, all of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Christian (girlfriend, Nakita Cartwright) Finton, Brittany Finton, Kurt (girlfriend, Sydney Ossler), Kaylee (Patrick) Ammar, and Brennon Kelley; his great-granddaughter, Brynlee Finton; siblings, Dave (Ann) Beckley of New Philadelphia, Don (Terry) Beckley of Sherrodsville, Doris (Arnett) Titus of Painesville, Pat (Fred) Johnson of Florida, Judy (Wayne) Stull of Brightwood, Beverly (Larry) Webber of Bowerston, and Amy (George) Specht of Bowerston; in addition to numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Orlo was preceded in passing by his infant sister and three brothers, Ed, Glen, and Raymond.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM. Pastor Mick Foster will officiate a service in Broadway United Methodist Church on Friday beginning at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens.

Friends are invited to the Broadway Methodist Church following the committal service where Orlo’s church family will host a luncheon in the
fellowship hall.
