Norma Jean Buehler, 86, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover.

Norma Jean Buehler, 86, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover.

A daughter of the late Clifford and Carol (Harper) Froelich, Norma was born May 23, 1930 at Dover, Ohio.

Norma graduated from Dover High School in 1948 and retired from Huntington Bank where she was employed as a teller for 35 years.

She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church at Dover where she was active with the Altar Guild and also served on the Board of Directors of Mobile Meals. Norma was an accomplished traveler having visited many destinations throughout the world. She also enjoyed taking bus trips, ceramics, completing puzzles and arranging flowers.

She is survived by her sons, Tom (Shelly) Buehler of New Philadelphia, Jeff (Julie) Buehler of Stonecreek and Bob “Bulldog” Buehler of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Ryan (Tina) Buehler of Brechin, Ontario, Canada, Tim (Ashlyn) Buehler of New Philadelphia, David and Lukas Buehler of Stonecreek, Rusty Buehler of New Philadelphia and Rob (Buffie) Buehler of Strasburg; great-grandchildren, Ariella and Ayralynn; step great-grandchildren, Kylie and Haley and a sister, Shirley Rutherford of New Philadelphia.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Verle Buehler whom she married on October 11, 1950 and two sisters, Betty Smith and Ruby Maurer.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 5 to 8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Norma’s life will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1 PM in the funeral home with Rev. Don Rice officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. A luncheon will be held in the Hospitality Room in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover following the committal service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 216 N. Wooster Avenue, Dover, OH 44622 or to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.

I worked with Norma for several years at Reeves/Huntington Bank. I will always remember her kindness and the fun we had at work. So sorry to hear of her passing.
