Nathan R. Beitzel, 43, of New Philadelphia, passed away June 25, 2018 in the Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia, following a very brief diagnosis of both cancer and pulmonary fibrosis.

A son of Steven E. Beitzel and the late Christine Rae (Smith) Beitzel, Nathan was born August 19, 1974 in Dover.

After graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 1992, Nathan spent several years in the landscape business. He then became an apprentice with the International Heat & Frost Insulators Union, working most recently at PPG in Barberton. One highlight from his career was his time working at The White House in the boiler room.

Nathan loved his job, working in the yard and was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians. He also enjoyed spending time fishing and will fondly be remembered by his niece, Elizabeth, and nephew, Braydon, as “King of Putt-Putt”.

He is survived by his dad, Steve; his siblings, Steven Beitzel Jr., Heather (Michael) Harper and Kristen Beitzel, all of New Philadelphia; a niece and nephew, Elizabeth and Braydon; his aunts and uncles, Gayle (David) Mack of Dennison, Diane (Dick) West of New Philadelphia, James (Lisa) Smith of Columbus, Stephanie (Scott) Boli of North Canton, Tim (Lori) Beitzel of Bolivar, Todd (Holly) Beitzel of Strasburg, and Matt Beitzel of Boise, Idaho; his grandmother, Priscilla Beitzel of New Philadelphia; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in passing by his mother; his grandparents, Earl Beitzel and Wayne and Rosemary Smith; and his aunt, Amy Beitzel.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover from 2 to 4 PM. A funeral service celebrating Nathan’s life will be held on Wednesday at 4 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Larry Fletcher officiating.

I remember attending church with Steve,Chris, Nathan and Stevie ( as we knew him them). I appreciated the Godly example that Steve and Chris demonstrated to me as a child. These are some scriptures I have been leaning on since my Mom's death this past Thursday praying they bring comfort to you as well. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
