Millicent Kyler

Millicent Agatha Kyler, 100, of New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover, died Sunday, April 10, 2016 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.

A daughter of the late G.E. and Edith Alexander, Millicent was born January 11, 1916 at Funk, Ohio.

Millicent was a lifelong member of the Jeromesville Methodist Church where she had been the organist and youth choir director. She had been a Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, a member of the Ashland Country Club and was an avid golfer and bowler. She had an interest in painting and many of her works of art have been gifted to family and friends. Millicent also loved gardening and was a member of several garden clubs. She spent her final years at New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover where she celebrated her 100th birthday in style.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Robert K. Kyler of Norman, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; three daughters-in-law, Teuila, Mary Kay and Ingrid Kyler and a sister-in-law, Martha Jean Denbow of Columbus, Ohio.

Millicent was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.W. “Bill” Kyler; her sons, Attorney William A. “Bill” Kyler, Dr. Richard S. Kyler and David R. Kyler and a sister, Flora Alice Carl.

In keeping with Millicent’s wishes, cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Fickes Funeral Home at Jeromesville will handle a memorial service celebrating Millicent’s life on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Jeromesville Methodist Church, 40 North St, Jeromesville, OH 44840. A luncheon will follow the service. A private family graveside service will follow.
