Mary Lou Burkholder, 81, of Dover passed away June 3, 2017 in New Dawn Nursing Home at Dover following a period of declining health.
Born in Dover on November 11, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Harold Ellsworth and Marian Helena (Berndt) Burkholder.
After graduating from Strasburg High School in 1954, Mary Lou continued her formal education at Rigges-La Sayre Beauty College. She owned and operated Mary Lou’s Beauty Shop before working with Park Village and Better Home Health Care prior to her retirement.
Mary Lou was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Dover.
Her family includes her sisters, Shelva (Robert) Harmon and Deanna Reidy, both of Dover; her nieces and nephews, James Reidy, Paula Renee (Robert Frevola) Harmon, Eric Harmon, and Theresa (David) McCombs; and her great-niece Jennifer McCombs, and great-nephew David McCombs, Jr.
She was preceded in passing by her parents and her niece, Laura Lee Harmon.
