Marilyn Geckler

Marilyn Joan Geckler, 85, of New Philadelphia, passed away in the Community Hospice Truman House on January 12, 2018.

Born in Baltic, Ohio on May 1, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William Raymond and Mary Iona (Nelson) Syler.

After completing her formal education, she married her late husband, Robert J. Geckler, on August 9, 1958. He preceded her in passing on November 28, 2001.

Marilyn worked as a waitress for 13 years with Buttery Restaurant.

Marilyn loved to sew and make crafts. She also treasured Sunday dinners with her family.

She will be deeply missed by her family, including her children, Sharon “Sherry” McBride, Cheryl (Mark) Diamond, Karen (Tom) Conrad and Donna (Ray) Rees; her siblings, Elmer “Bud” Syler, Clara Young, and James Syler; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marilyn was preceded in passing by her siblings, Constance Wright, William Syler, Jr., Doran Syler, Robert Syler, Roberta Beamer and Fred Syler.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home chapel on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 1:30 to 2:30 PM. A service celebrating Marilyn’s life will immediately follow beginning at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at Stone Creek Cemetery.
