Marie Pittman

Marie L. Pittman, 90, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, October 20, 2017 in Hennis Care & Retirement Centre at Dover following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late John Patrick and Anna Belle (Meek) Kelly, Marie was born September 18, 1927 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Marie was a 1945 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church.

On April 2, 1946, she married Arnold M. Pittman and the couple spent the next 59 years together until his death on April 8, 2005.

She is survived by two sons, John (Joyal) Pittman of New Philadelphia and Richard Pittman of New Philadelphia; two grandsons, Chip Pittman of Dover and Jason Pittman of California; one granddaughter, Jennifer Ann (Brett) Swigert of Dover; three great-grandsons, Gus Pittman, Charles Jeremiah Pittman and Magnus Karl Pittman; a nephew, William and a niece, Tara.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Anna Mae Lintz and a great-grandson, John C. Pittman.

In keeping with Marie’s wishes, services will be private and burial will take place alongside her husband in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
