Mae L. Poe

September 5, 1945 — September 23, 2016

Mae L. Poe, Age 71, of Barnhill died September 23, 2016 at Akron General Hospital from complications of Pancreatic Cancer surgery.

Born September 5, 1945 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Thelma (McNutt) France- Probst and the late Harry France.

She retired from Timken Roller Bearing in Canton and Lauren Manufacturing. She served many years as a fireman for the Midvale Fire Department and as a Council Member/ Treasurer of the Water Board for the Village of Barnhill.

Mae was a very kind-hearted, caring, and giving soul. There wasn’t a person or animal that she didn’t like or help when needed. Whenever possible, Mae would donate her time and money to various organizations that assisted those less fortunate. Most importantly, Mae loved spending time with her family. She was very proud of every member of her family and you would often hear her telling stories to show you how proud she was of her family. She was an extraordinary person that will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her.

She is survived by a son, James (Mary) Poe of Barnhill; sisters, Betty Moss of Dover and Shirley Martin of Fort Myers, Florida; grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan) Stillion of Waynesburg, James Poe Jr. and Christopher Poe of Barnhill and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brother, Richard Pope, Bessie Brady and Mary Jane France.

Per Mae’s request, there will be no calling hours, only a private graveside family service. Cremation care will be handled through the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the “Mae Poe Memorial Fund” at any Huntington Bank or you can make donations to Tuscarawas County Humane Society, Tuscarawas County Dog Pound or any Children’s Hospital in her honor.
