Lena Moore

Lena J. Moore, 77, of 1062 Darrell Drive NE, New Philadelphia, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 in Union Hospital at Dover, Ohio after a brief illness.

A daughter of the late Arlie and Irma (Chaney) Butler, Lena was born May 25, 1939 at Dennison, Ohio.

Lena enjoyed baking, crocheting, collecting antiques and she was a frequent volunteer at the New Philadelphia Senior Center over the last five years.   She also enjoyed keeping in touch with her friends that she had made from traveling throughout the United States.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog, Molly; she was a very loving mother and grandmother.

Lena is survived by her husband, Ronald Moore, whom she married March 21, 1959; her son, Jeffrey Moore; two grandchildren, Ryan Moore and Rhiannon Moore; former daughters-in-law, Tammy Wachter and Dawn Selby; a brother, Howard (Ricky) Butler; and six nieces and nephews, Jaclyn (Josh) Albrect, Kelsey Willoughby, David Butler, Jane Butler, Emily Jarzen, and Greg (Jini) Willoughby.

In addition to her parents, Lena is preceded in death by her son, Brian Moore and three siblings, Leslie Butler, Vernon Butler and Beverly Butler.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 5 to 7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.  A celebration of Lena’s life will be held Friday, May 5, 2017 at 11 AM in the funeral home’s chapel with Pastor Brian Flood officiating.  Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery.  A meal will follow the committal service in the Geib Family Center.
