Larry Dwain Stanley, 59, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, May 14, 2017 in his residence following a hard-fought battle with cancer.

A son of Betty Stanley of New Philadelphia and the late Harold Stanley, Larry was born in Twin City Hospital at Dennison on June 22, 1957.

He was a 1975 graduate of Claymont High School and relocated to Arizona a short time later. On June 22, 1980, he married the former Cindy Cole whom he met while working in a bowling alley in Arizona. Together the couple reared three children and shared in 23 years of marriage prior to her passing on December 28, 2003.

In 1993, Larry and Cindy relocated to New Philadelphia where Larry was employed for several years by Foultz Machine at Canton and later Flex Technologies at Midvale. Most recently, Larry had been employed by Marty’s Coaches Corner at New Philadelphia.

He enjoyed collecting model trains, shooting, watching classic Western movies and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his mother, Larry will be missed by his children, Barbara (William) Fitzgerald, Jaime Stanley and Lee (Grace) Stanley all of New Philadelphia; a sister, Karen Gray of Florida; six grandchildren, Synthia, Christeena, and Vanessa, Kyra, Brandon, and Colten; a niece, Michelle Gray Pohl (Fred Pohl); a nephew, Mark Gray; a grand-niece Alexia Pohl; and two grand-dogs Mabel and Atlas.

Larry was a classmate of mine.We graduated together. He lived in my neighorhood. We spent many , many summers playing outside. He was my childhood friend. From Trenton Ave, to Highschool. Larry was a good kid, and not a mean bone in his body. My sympathies to Betty, Karen, and all the family. FLY HIGH MY FRIEND

Remember so well the day Larry was born to Betty & Harold, such a cutie all his life. Karen & Larry were the apples of their parents eyes with a wonderful life. Larry's Mom Betty was so much better than a best friend and my thoughts & prayers are with her, for I, too, am a Widow & Mother of a deceased son where they all live in Eternity. GONE BUT NOT FOGOTTEN! Praise God for precious memories & SPECIAL friends! Life goes on, Betty, enjoy every moment. Our Mothers gave us birth but God gave us Life & the personal choice how we live. How well I remember you, your Mother, Dad & brothers: good times . . . our piano duets & friendship that lasts forever!

You always knew how to cheer me up when I needed it. Although it hasn't been possible for me to see much of you in the last few years, I will always remember your wonderful smile and that "laugh" that made really alright again. I will miss you but have you with me in the happy memories I have of our friendship.

Hard to believe the passing of such a great man at a young age. He always stayed positive no matter what. Met Larry & Cindy 23yrs ago when we became neighbor, babysitters & close friends . He was always so dedicated to his family & job . Now Larry can be with his soul mate (Cindy Stanley) again & suffers no more physical pain . (R.I.P) my friend. Gonna miss you & your smile

Larry was a very good friend of mine in high school. Both of us were in the percussion section of band and spent a lot of time together. He was a sweet guy and always made me laugh. I am sorry he has left this earth, but know that heaven has gained another angel. Hugs and prayers to his family and friends.
