Josephine Berlendis

Josephine Louise Berlendis, age 91, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully on November 29, 2017 at Community Hospice Truman House following a brief illness.

Born November 15, 1926, in Wainwright she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Marie (Besozzi) Berlendis.

She was known as “Aunt Jo” to family and friends and was a faithful member of Sacred Heath Catholic Church where she enjoyed praying the rosary and being a member of the Ladies Altar Society.

In her earlier years, she worked as a beautician at Jean & Jo’s Hair Salon then later had her own beauty shop, where one of her greatest joys was styling hair for nuns in the area. She loved to socialize with friends and family over cookies and coffee, including delicious Italian pizzelles she often made for all to enjoy.

Josephine leaves behind her dear sister, Joann Lorenz formerly of Wainwright; two nephews, Jeffrey (Teresa) Lorenz of Zanesville and Joseph (Karen) Lorenz of Canton; three great-nephew and nieces, Jordan, Jessica and Kaylie; and three great-great-nephew and nieces, Braylen, Jenna and Aubrey.

The family will receive friends in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:15 AM. Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.

Following the committal service, a luncheon will be prepared and served by Josephine’s church family in St. Ambrose Hall, where family and friends can continue in fellowship.
