Jennie Carinelli

Jennie S. Carinelli, age 90, of Park Village Assisted Living at Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia died early, February 13, 2018 following a period of declining health.

Born in Uhrichsville, Ohio on October 31, 1927, Jennie was the daughter of the late James and Angela (Lamonica) Scaffidi.

Jennie was a 1945 graduate of the former Uhrichsville High School and on April 16, 1952 married the love of her life, Ernest “Ernie” Carinelli. Together the couple raised two daughters, Marianne and Donna and shared in 62 years of marriage prior to his passing on July 27, 2014.

Her faith was nurtured at Sacred Heart Church where she was an active member of the Altar Society and the Sacred Heart Seniors. For many years, Jennie was employed by Ohio Bell, which later became GTE, and retired in 1984.

She leaves behind her two daughters, Marianne (Paul) Sarna and Donna Marie (Michael) Burtscher, all of Dover; her grandchildren, Stacie (husband, Christopher VanTress) Dapoz, Tyler Dapoz, Brittany Marie (Tyler) Dreher, and Michael E. (Ashley) Burtscher; her great-grandchildren, Landyn Dreher and Julian Burtscher; and her sister-in-law, Nancy Scaffidi of Dover.

In addition to her parents, Jennie was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jean Wert, and her brothers, Pete Scaffidi and Sandy Scaffidi; her sisters-in-law, Ann Scaffidi and Erma Gibson; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Gibson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be led by Fr. Jeff Coning on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 10 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery at Dennison. Following burial, a meal will be provided at the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
