Glenn Mizer

Glenn W. Mizer, 82, of Mineral City, died Monday, January 8, 2018 in Park Village Healthcare at Dover following a period of declining health.

A son of the late Woy S. and Opal M. (Hothem) Mizer, Glenn was born May 22, 1935 at Wolf, Ohio.

Glenn graduated from Stone Creek High School in 1953 before continuing his education at The Ohio State University.

Farming was Glenn’s passion as well as his lifelong work having farmed more than 700 acres in the New Cumberland area. In addition to operating his own farm, Glenn worked for the Farm Service Agency and also served as a crop insurance adjustor.

He was a member of the New Cumberland United Methodist Church and formerly served as a Warren Township Trustee, an advisor for the New Cumberland Hot Shots 4-H Club and served on the Atwood Sewer Department Board of Directors.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha “Ann” (Rennicker) Mizer whom he married on June 17, 1956; his children, Glenda Mizer, Doran (Cindy) Mizer, Keith (Lorri) Mizer, Darlinda Schwartz and Anita Schott; his grandchildren, Chris Mizer, Alan Mizer, Andrea (Stephen) Valdinger, Shauna (Ben) Gundy, Brandon (Stephanie) Schott, Matthew Mizer and Jason (fiancée, Mandy Redman) Schwartz; his step-grandsons, Robert (P.J.) Charnock and Richard (Chelsea) Charnock; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandsons; two sisters, Margery (Charles) Oaklief and Jean Mathews and numerous nieces and nephews.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Bob Mathews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the New Cumberland United Methodist Church. A funeral service celebrating Glenn’s life will follow at 3 p.m. in the church with Jon Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in New Cumberland Cemetery. Following the committal service, a reception will be held in the fellowship hall at the church.
