Frederick Allen “R.D.” “Bill” Domer, 66, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in Louis Stoke VA Medical Center at Cleveland following a lengthy illness.

A son of the late Jerry Allen and Mary Catherine (Nussbaum) Domer, Rick was born September 29, 1950 at Dover, Ohio.

Rick graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1969.  He was then drafted into the United States Army and served as a 16P20 Chaparral Crewman as well as a member of the Army Pistol Team.  He received an honorable discharge on January 14, 1972.

Rick was well known for his talents as an automotive upholsterer and he operated Domer Upholstery for nearly 10 years.  He especially enjoyed restoring Mustangs.  He most recently worked as the Transportation Supervisor for S.E.A.; a position he held for the past 14 years and was a member of The Church Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints at New Philadelphia where he was a High Priest.

He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping in his younger years.  Rick enjoyed competition shooting, building model cars and was a fan of NASCAR and Bill Elliott.

Rick will be remembered by his family and friends for his selfless and generous spirit.  He was always willing to help those in need which was evident by his recognition from the President of the United States for his 15,000 volunteer hours benefiting America’s veterans.  In addition, Rick will be remembered for his outstanding sense of humor and his love for his family whom he was extremely proud of.

He is survived by his wife, Kim (Beitzel) Domer; his children, Racheal “R.D.” (Jason) Garner, Abby “AbberD” Baranack and Mike (Mae) Beitzel all of New Philadelphia and Matt (Amy) Beitzel of Milton, Delaware; his grandchildren, Blake and Logan Garner, Bryce and Aleeya Baranack, Miles and Marshall Beitzel and Owen and Scarlett Beitzel; a sister, Jennifer (Joe) Mathey of New Philadelphia; his nieces and nephews, Jared Domer, Larissa (Jay) Jenkins, Janelle (Aaron) Blose and Jay and Stacey Urban and Brock and Blake Chumney and two great nieces, Isabella Tadiello and Lizzy Blose.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Greg and Dave.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 1 p.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at New Philadelphia.  Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
