Floyd Davis

Floyd A. “Zeke” Davis, 92, of New Philadelphia, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A son of the late Joseph F. and Anna A. (Swaldo) Davis, Floyd was born April 11, 1926 at Wainwright, Ohio.

During his younger years, Floyd worked at Goshen Sewer Pipe, Plant #2. He then went to work for Greer Steel where he retired in 1988.

Floyd was a member of Community Church of the Nazarene at Goshen. He had a passion for serving the Lord and over the years he taught Sunday School, preached sermons and sang worship music while playing his guitar among other things.

He was a sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and Browns. Most of all, he cherished his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie (Oppy) Davis whom he married on December 23, 1951; his children, Melvin (Mary) Davis of Ocala, Florida and Marvin (Cindy) Davis and Jo Ann (Larry) Guy both of Goshen; his grandchildren, Erica (Devin) Edmunds of Virginia, Erin (Neil Cook) Davis of Dayton, Mitchell (Diane) Davis of New Philadelphia, Matt (Erin) Davis of Tuscarawas and Marc Davis of New Philadelphia; two great-granddaughters, Harper Edmunds and Norah Davis; a sister, Helen Dalpaiz of Dover; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Davis of Tuscarawas.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joseph and Robert Davis.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 2 to 4 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Floyd’s life will be held in the funeral home on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Lee Randolph officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
