William Emerson Reidenbaugh, 96, of the North Star Community – Dover, and formerly of Tuscarawas, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in the Hospice House at New Philadelphia.

A son of the late William and Pearl (Reichman) Reidenbaugh, Emerson was born November 4, 1920 near Tuscarawas, Ohio.

Emerson worked as a farmer on McClains’s Farm as well as a custodian and bus driver at Indian Valley Schools for many years. His biggest joy in life was his family. He also enjoyed his time as a Scout Leader, spending mornings at New Towne Mall walking, as well as enjoying companionship with friends. He was also a member of Saint James Lutheran Church at Tuscarawas.

Emerson is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Leonard) McPherson; a granddaughter, Denise (Mark) Garlow and two step-great grandchildren, Courtlyn and Callan Garlow.

In addition to his parents, Emerson is preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Reidenbaugh (Dodds), whom he married on February 4, 1940 and his sister, Isabel Benedick.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 26, 2016 from noon to 1pm in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Emerson’s life will follow at 1pm in the funeral home’s chapel with Pastor Ken Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Saint James Lutheran Cemetery at Tuscarawas.
