Dr. Edgardo “Lando” Rubio Kagaoan passed away on May 23, 2017 at the Truman House Community Hospice Facility in New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Dr. Kagaoan was born June 30, 1941 in the province of Umingan, Pangasinan in the Philippines. His first wife Dr. Conchita Echalas Kagaoan, his parents, Dr. Apolinario and Purificacion Kagaoan and his sister Fe Dahlia Adriano precede him in death.

He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Deborah Anderson Kagaoan, his four children Patricia “Mia” Rooney (Michael), Patrick “PV” Kagaoan (Jenevieve), Kristina “Tina” Harrison (Todd) and Christopher “Ryan” Crosier (Carolyn), his seven grandchildren, Sean, Jack, Hannah, Morgan, Kara, Ryan and Grayson and his siblings, Nieves Gan, Erlinda Kagaoan, Lilila (Arsing) Alagar, Evelyn Kagaoan, Susan Kagaoan, Cesar Kagaoan and Purita Kagaoan along with his nieces and nephews who fondly called him, “Uncle Lando.”

Dr. Kagaoan graduated from the College of Medicine at University of Santo Thomas in the Philippines in 1965. He moved in 1966 to Toledo, OH with his first wife Conchita Echalas Kagaoan (March 13, 1941 – February 3, 1969) to complete their joint residency at Riverside Hospital and later practiced at St. Vincent Hospital. Dr. Kagaoan started his private practice in Uhrichsville, Ohio and served on staff at Twin City, Mercy and Aultman Hospitals. Dr. Kagaoan and his second wife, Deborah settled in the town of Uhrichsville and later became longtime residents of New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Dr. Kagaoan had a love of cars, fine suits and often could be found listening and singing to Frank Sinatra, especially his most favorite Sinatra song, “My Way.” He will be remembered for the love and care he gave his patients and for the uncanny way he sang “My Way” dressed in a fine suit and silk tie.

A memorial service celebrating Dr. Kagaoan’s life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017  at 10:30 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia officiated by Pastor Jeff Croft, with the family greeting guests one hour prior to the service. Cremation care has been conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.

Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.

My memory of Ed was partying at Trish and Mike's wedding out in Newport Beach Ca. Ed was smiling and dancing and having a ball! It always brings a smile to my face when I think about that time. God Bless you Ed. You must be dancing in heaven!

We lived several doors from each other on Walnut St., Uhrichsville back in the day when neighbors and families sat-out on their front porches and enjoyed the summer evenings. Dr. Kagaoan had interesting stories to tell of his past and was rightfully proud to be living and working here. Tuscarawas County was his home. My thoughts are with the family during this time that they find comfort knowing he is at peace.

To Mrs. Kagaoan and Tina, I am so sorry for your loss. I have many good memories of "Dr. Eddie Kagaoan". He was new in town, in 1973, and gave me my physical exam for employment at Twin City Hospital. He was comical that day. After I began my job at TCH, in the Medical Record Department, I would see him occasionally, when he came in to sign charts or some other business. I remember the day he appeared wearing a beautiful denim suit, and showing off his waist size. He was going to court to get his citizenship. He was so proud of becoming an American citizen. There was the day, a few years ago, when I ran into him in the PT Department at TCH. He'd had a stroke and was receiving Occupational Therapy. I was there for a back injury. He was a bit distressed that day, at having to learn cooking and other domestic chores. The last time I spoke with him was while we were both dining at Red Lobster. He came to our booth, and had a nice conversation with my husband and me. He was always a friend to me, and I am sad he is gone. Debbie, I remember you, too, over the years, and am sorry for your loss. Tina, you were my great-niece's favorite teacher, at St. Mary's. Sincerest sympathy,

R.I.P my friend. You listen to my sales pitch when I was selling pharmaceuticals, you made sure my children had plenty of formula when they were babies and you gave a lawnmower when I didn't have one. But most of all you were always a great friend and mentor and that meant the most. Best.....Todd Greene

We have suffered a great loss with Lando's passing. We love him very much. Lando visited us at our home when we lived in New Orleans, LA in the late 1970's. When I met him I instantly loved his personality and we became life long friends. We visited with him again during visits to family in California and once again enjoyed the time we spent with him I regret we we were not able to visit with him more frequently but I know in my heart he knew how much we loved him and treasured our relationship.
