Donna Bean

Donna Jean Bean, age 93, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, January 1, 2018 in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover following a period of declining health.

Born at New Philadelphia, Ohio on June 19, 1924, Donna was the daughter of the late Byron C. and Zella Florence Parcell Herron.

She was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and married Clyde T. “Tommy” Bean at Greenup, Kentucky on June 8, 1943. Together the couple shared in 60 years of marriage prior to his passing on April 10, 2004.

Donna was a longtime member of Mt. Carmel Church. She retired from Groove Fold at Newcomerstown but worked into her late 80s for Wendy’s on the Boulevard; where her kind smile and warm hello often brightened the days of many customers through the years. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who also enjoyed working in her flower gardens and vegetable gardens; and even kept tomato plants up until last summer.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Olinger of New Philadelphia, Margaret “Peg” (Jim) Gallagher of Columbus and Clyde H. (Connie) Bean of Piedmont; four grandchildren, Donna “Shelly” (Richard) Lehman, Mike (Luann) Todd, Seana (Phil) Fortune, and Chris (Krista) Bean, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Donna was preceded in death by a son, Gary T. Bean; a grandson, John C. Kissel, III, and a son-in-law, Charles G. Olinger.

The family will greet guests on Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 1-2 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where a service led by Pastor Brian Flood will begin at 2 PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Private burial will take place in the West Union Cemetery at Gilmore.
