Dennis Fenton

April 18, 1949 — August 31, 2017

Dennis L. “Denny” Fenton, 68, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, August 31, 2017 while in the care of Community Hospice’s Truman House, following a brief illness.

A son of Dale (Faye) Fenton of New Philadelphia and the late Betty Cook Fenton, Denny was born at Canton, Ohio on April 18, 1949.

He was a 1967 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and earned his bachelor degree from LeTourneau College in Texas where he studied Electrical Technology.

On August 27, 1972, Denny married the former Rita Huether and two weeks following was drafted into the United States Army. From 1972-1974, Denny was stationed in Germany and served as a Nuclear Weapons Maintenance Specialist.

Following his service, Denny returned to the family business, Fenton Brothers’ Electric, where he later became part owner. His specialty area of the business involved industrial motor service and installation.

In his free time, Denny enjoyed being out of doors, riding his Harley with his friends, “The Wild Hogs”, golfing, fishing, being on the water, vacationing at the beach and traveling to visit family; most recently he had enjoyed time spent on his patio, surrounded by nature and his plants. Above all else, Denny loved the opportunities he was given to spend time with his family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed playing games and cards with them. His faith in God was nurtured at Trinity Gospel Temple where he was an active member for over 40 years.

In addition to his father and step-mother and his wife of 45 years, Denny will be missed by his three children, Stephanie (Ammon) Perry of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Wendy (Larry) Danner of Columbia, Maryland, and Tyson (Christen) Fenton of New Philadelphia and three grandsons, Isaiah, Ethan, and Liam.

Completing the family are two sisters, Sandra (Terry) Johnson of Bolivar and Pamela (Randy) Pipes of Canton as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 in Trinity Gospel Temple, 1612 Tuscarawas Street W, Canton, OH 44708 from 4-6 PM where a service celebrating Denny’s life will begin at 6 PM and a light meal will follow. Cremation care has been handled by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.

Memorial contributions in Denny’s name may be directed to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
