Delbert Dean Walton, 90, of Dover, died Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in Hennis Care and Retirement Centre at Dover following a period of declining health.

A son of the late Lewis and Emma Walton, Del was born October 31, 1927 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Del graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1945. He then enlisted with the United States Navy and was stationed in Guam.

He was employed at the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company where he retired after 25 years of service. Following retirement, Del held part time jobs at Buehler’s, Endreas Floral and Bank One.

Del always looked forward to his annual fishing trips to Canada and Florida and he enjoyed tending to his lawn and garden. He was a life member of the New Philadelphia B.P.O.E #510 where he thoroughly enjoyed the companionship of other members. Del also was a member of the Elks bowling team.

He was a kind, lovable and ornery man who was also a great husband, father and grandfather. He was well-known and liked by many friends and business associates.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Frances (Schindler) Walton; his daughters, Colleen (John) Cua and Janet (Dave) Beach both of North Carolina; his step-sons, Randy (Nancy) Alleshouse of New Philadelphia and Kim (Wendy) Alleshouse of Sandyille; his grandchildren, Nicholas (Cara) Alleshouse, Lisa (Mike) Steer, Tiffani (Eric) Wolfe, Meagan (Bob) John, Anthony, Timothy and Tyler Alleshouse, Kelly Cua, Shelly (Melvin) Barnes and Heather (Tim) Allen; 12 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ruth Laubscher of Pennsylvania; and a niece, Mary Hibbard of Texas.

Del was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sherry Pearch who passed away in 2013; two sisters, Mary Wagner and Wilma Streby; and numerous half-sisters and half-brothers.

In keeping with Del’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services and cremation will take place through the care of the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.

My sympathies to all of you. Although I didn't have the honor of knowing him, I do know how much he was loved from the stories that I've been told. May you feel God's presence and peace.
