David A. Fox, Sr. 71, of New Philadelphia, passed away after a short period of declining health in the Community Hospice Truman House on Friday, September 7, 2018.

Born in Dover on December 17, 1946, he was the son of the late Ralph Fox and Edna “Jean” (Kinsey) Fox. After completing his education at Dover High School, he honorably served in the US Army from 1966-1969 in Vietnam. He continued his service to his country for more than 20 additional years in the National Guard and Army Reserves.

David greatly enjoyed driving truck throughout his professional career that began at the former Stone Container and has spanned more than 17 years with Nichols Bakery. He was a member of the General Truck Drivers & Helpers Union Local No. 92. He was also the proud recipient of an award for driving 1 million miles with no citations or accidents.

David greatly enjoyed his Cobra Mustang, taking it out for drives on nice days or just polishing it and keeping it in top condition.

Most importantly, he loved his family deeply and always enjoyed being with them. On August 8, 1966, he married the former Carolyn L. Morgan. The couple celebrated 52 years of marriage this past August. He was also blessed with the birth of his children, David (Robin) Jr. of Uhrichsville and Laura “Lori” Fox Harding of Dennison. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart including, Ryan (Joelle) Fox, Heather Fox, Morgan (David) Phelps, Wyatt and Garrett Harding, Haylee Meinhart and Michael (Cynthia) Flynn; in addition to his great-grandchildren, Dominick Phelps and Jynx Flynn. His sister, Nancy Fox completes his family.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in passing by his 3-month-old son, Richard James Fox in 1969; and his brother, John Fox.
