Carl Robert Pearson, 80, of Dover, died Thursday, April 5, 2018 in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health.

A son of the late Albert Leroy “Roy” and Gladys May (Ritschard) Pearson, Carl was born March 5, 1938 at Malvern, Ohio.

Carl graduated from Malvern High School in 1956 and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was employed as a truck driver for more than 32 years and eventually retired from Dover Chemical.

He was a member of The Church of New Hope at Dover and the East Ohio Emmanuel Emmaus Organization. Carl had a passion for singing and over the years was a member of many choruses and quartets, which include the Schoenbrunn Valley Barbershop Chorus, the Faithful Four Gospel Quartet, the Loyal Sons Quartet and the Pearson Brothers Quartet.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Derheimer) Pearson whom he married on August 30, 1997; a daughter, Connie (Eric) Griffin of Malvern; two sons, Terry (Kim) Pearson of Malvern and Bruce (Samantha) Pearson of Somerdale; two step-daughters, Dawn (Jim) Siesky of Wakeman, Ohio and Tammy (Sean) Fitzgibbon of North Lawrence, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two brothers, Retired Capt. USMC Charles (Vernice) Pearson of Carrollton and Merle (Athnee) Pearson of Waynesburg, Ohio.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Pearson; a granddaughter, Erin Linn Pearson; two brothers, Myron and Donald Pearson and three sisters, Dorothy Groff, Eileen Mang and Lillian Shoupe.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating Carl’s life will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Dan Legg officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held in the Hospitality Room in the Geib Funeral Center.
