Barbara Bevan

Barbara Ellen Bevan, 79, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, May 19, 2018 in Park Village Southside at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Carl and Wanda Elizabeth (Lahm) Bennett, Barbara was born June 7, 1938 at Dennison, Ohio.

Barbara graduated from St. Mary’s High School at Dennison in 1957. Then on November 23, 1957, she married the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” L. Bevan in Immaculate Conception Church at Dennison. The couple raised four children, Deborah, Tammi, Molly and Scott and celebrated 54 years of marriage prior to Jerry’s passing on March 23, 2012.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Barbara enjoyed playing Bingo, but most of all she cherished spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving children, Deborah Bevan, Tammi (Derek) Trachsel, and Molly (Ken) Krese all of New Philadelphia, and Scott (Janel) Bevan of Port Washington; her grandchildren, Erin (Joe) Plessinger, Dane and Kori Trachsel, Kayla (fiancé, Jake Stallman), Jeremy and Alexis Krese, and Ava and Wyatt Bevan; a great-grandson whose birth is expected in July; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul (Sandy) Bevan, Bill Bevan, Cherie Conidi, Pat Powell, Ron (Ginny) Bevan and Jill Clark; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with a Christian Wake service being held at 7:45 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jeff Coning officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
