Arlene Kay Yoblonski, 73, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, March 31, 2018 in her home following an unexpected illness.

Born in The City Hospital at Bellaire, Ohio on October 29, 1944, Arlene was a daughter of the late Frank Yoblonski and Antoinette DePaoli Jeffers.

Arlene was a graduate of St. Clairsville High School and was a 35-year employee of the former Harts Big Bear Plus Grocery Store at New Philadelphia, where she worked as the manager.

She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and loved watching basketball and football; during games, she often called her brothers on the phone to chat about dumb plays and calls. Arlene also enjoyed traveling to the shore and visiting casinos.

She will be deeply missed by her brothers, Donald Hughes of Georgia, Albert Hughes of New Philadelphia, and Harold Jeffers of Pennsylvania; three nieces; her cat, Kitty; many friends, which include Peg Kaiser, Peg Lacey, Brenda Sherer and Judy Barnes; as well as her step-mother, Mary Yoblonski of Belmont County.

In keeping with Arlene’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation care will be conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. Inurnment in Belmont County will take place at a later date.

Aunt Arlene will be sadly missed. She was a very special aunt to me growing up. I have many fond memories of my childhood with her and my grandmother in Glencoe. She was a good soul and will be missed dearly.

So sorry for the loss of Arlene. She would come and visit my mom in the nursing home even though she was not feeling well herself. She would always send mom cards too. Miss you !
